We are currently renewing parts of our cathodic protection system and to enable us to safely access the bridge columns we will require a series of short term bridge closures in the early hours of the morning.
The bridge will close to all traffic at twenty past midnight and open again at 5am on all the dates noted below. The walkway will remain open. Blue light emergency access will be maintained at all times. If you are an on-call emergency responder at Ninewells hospital, please contact us directly on enquiries@tayroadbridge.co.uk for advice:

Background Information: Cathodic protection (CP) is a method used to halt the corrosion of steel reinforcement embedded in concrete by applying a small electrical current through a surface mounted anode. The Tay Road Bridge has a CP system installed within the extents of the tidal splash zone to all concrete piers and a project to renew elements of the CP system was approved at the March 2025 Board meeting.
